I’m a huge fan of Gulab Jamun. It is my favorite dessert and I can have it anytime of the day. It is yummy, it is delicious, it is beautiful to look at, it smells awesome, it is very simple to make … do you need more reasons to love it?
When I was kid, I called them sweet balls dipped in sugar syrup. The traditional Gulab Jamuns were made using Khoya or Mawa which is thickened milk and is reduced untill it become more or less like dough. In order to make it soft and spongy, it was then kneaded hard and for very long… adding a pinch of baking powder the dough was divided into small balls and were deep fried in desi ghee or clarified butter. Then these balls were soaked in sugar syrup.
Today, there are ready-made mixtures available in the market. The whole procedure is less time consuming and is very easy. Just follow the instructions written behind the packet and here you go. You can try some easy Gulab jamun recipes at home. All the ingredients are available at home (generally). I tried following recipe and it turned out good. Try some for yourself.
